About Gene

Gravatar New 10-2012 - Crop1Gene Lempp is a pre-published author, actively writing towards his dreams. His passion for words springs from years spent wandering such places as the shaded vales of Middle Earth, the dark imaginings of Aesop and the Brothers Grimm to the vaunted skies of Pern.

Gene has worked in healthcare, sales, security, manufacturing, retail and as a Pokemon gym leader for disadvantaged children. For the past 16 years, Gene worked as a data miner, speed analyst, information editor and client service account manager for a now vaporized Fortune 500 public relations and marketing firm.

Besides writing, Gene has a deep passion for ancient history, archeology, mythology, folklore and fable. He combines his researching experience with his love of writing and the past to unearth an endless treasure trove of story ideas which he showcases through his Designing from Bones blog series.

“Give the same seed to a thousand different writers and watch a thousand different stories bloom to life.”

As a writer, Gene blends elements of alternate history, the paranormal, fantasy, science fiction and horror in his word cauldron to create new mythologies and folklore with a twist.

“Only the moment is eternal and in a moment, everything will change,” sums the heart of his philosophy.

  1. Love the shout out to the squirrels. I grew up on a grain farm in Manitoba. We quickly learned this Animal Farm-esque mantra: red squirrels good, gray squirrels bad (they’d chew through things to get to grain).

    Happy writing!

Around here they are all gray with the rare exception of a black squirrel (which are very aggressive). The grays have a love for the rubber coating on phone and internet cables, so much so that the various companies had to come up with cables that have squirrel repellent infused into them. Still love them, we have several acorn-bearing trees and rake them into piles. It’s fun watching a dozen squirrels feast from the same heap.
